We chose the name Velocity Ventures because velocity implies not only speed but also direction. Our goal is to take the technologies that are being conceptualized across the globe and apply those in a direction, with urgency, toward solving some of the greatest challenges that our world faces today – fair and equal access to information and the digital world. Along the way, we’re looking at applying these same technologies to improve efficiencies in industries so that our human potential can be redirected toward solving the next problems.

Velocity Ventures was founded by Ben Posthuma, an avid mountaineer, skier, and climber who has spent his professional career solving some of the most challenging communications problems presented. Leveraging his background as a United States Marine, he recognized the importance of the overall customer, or end user, experience in any technical system. Working in the defense industry, the public safety sector, and in several startups, Ben, who has most recently held positions as a product development executive, has always led by asking a single question…
